Writer Solomon Buchi has berated gospel artistes who infuse trendy and secular musical phrases’ into their ministrations. Buchi stated this while reacting to a video of gospel artiste and Oni Iduro crooner, Yinka Alaseyori, infusing Gwo Gwo Gwo melody during her performance in a Lagos-based church last Friday. Reacting to the video, Buchi wrote”Its sad to see gospel ministers incorporate trendy and secular musical phrases into their ministrations. This isnt gospel music, neither is it a ministration. Its just emotionalism; employing every possible means to gyrate listeners. Im sick of it! Some ministers also incorporated the 12345678 trend into praise and worship, and it should be frowned upon. We are offering praise to God who deserves the maximum reverence. Stop soiling the sacrosanctity of our faith. Its high time we called some gospel musicians what they are they are just entertainers riding on the wave of the Christian faith.
