Man arrested after making threats to ‘k!ll as many people as possible’ in schools
A man sent an email today to multiple schools in Spain, threatening to k!ll “as many people as possible” by planting bombs. Panic engulfed at least four schools across the region of Valencia amid the warning received at 8.50am local time today, Feb. 27. “Today, I plan to go to all the schools listed in this email and k!ll as many people as possible,” the email reads. “I have already placed several items in all the schools included.” The suspect also claims to own “several firearms” that he plans to use in the possible attacks. According to ABC, the schools are located in the towns of Chiva, Bunol, Yatova and Siete Aguas. The full wording of the email has not been disclosed by authorities, but the man claimed that he had hidden explosives in the school buildings. He identified himself by the initials “HFP” and gave his phone number and home address, but local media reported they do not exist. He is reported to live in the Valencian village of Turs and is a member of the online group known as 764. In the email, the man also apologises to his parents for the attacks that he is planning and the action he claims that he is going to take. A suspect has since been arrested, but Spanish police have not released his name. Classes have been cancelled and children sent home while police carry out an investigation and find the author behind the threat. Other schools in towns such as Loriguilla, in Camp de Tria, have also suspended work. A statement from the City Council said that “for security reasons and in view of bomb threats in schools, in coordination with the Civil Guard and the Educational Centre, classes are suspended until further notice”.
